Unit 9 Final Project
- Introduction:
Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?
It is vitally important for all
health professionals to develop in all aspects of integral (optimal) health
included, but not limited to psychologically, spiritually, and physically. As a
health professional the integral vow must be taken, this vow also suggest that
we partake in a lifelong effort to increase our knowledge. By doing so we can
continue to progress ourselves as well as provide the best possible example of
health to our clients.
- Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?
I have taken the time to assess
my health/wellness in each domain: spiritually, physically and psychologically.
Spiritually and Psychologically I believe I score highly; I practice prayer
daily, attend religious ceremonies, have a deep interconnectedness with my God,
with that comes support, great peace, calmness, and clarity. I score slightly
lower when it comes to the physical. I am active everyday but not often partaking
in exercise. My nutrition could also be better.
- Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
Physically, my goal is adopt a
workout regimen and stick to it. I also want to place myself on a diet in order
to begin to adapt better eating habits.
Mentally, my goal is to
incorporate some type of meditation/ relaxation exercise into my daily routine.
Whether it be meditation or yoga; just something mind calming.
Spiritually, is slightly
difficult. I guess I could participate in more community events pertaining to
spirituality; church events.
- Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.
Physical- Running, Weight Lifting.
Running/ Working Out at least twice a week for 30 minutes each
Psychological- Meditation, Yoga.
Dedicate 15 minutes daily to either meditation or yoga in order to calm down
and clear the mind.
Spiritual- Prayer, Biblical
Study. Begin and end the day each day with a prayer and devotion time to God.
Intercede for health and other subjects
- Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
I would develop a treatment plan
with weekly checklist by analyzing these notes after six months I will be able
to determine where I begin and the progression I have made since then. According
to several studies done it takes at least 21 days to make any behavior a habit
so by keeping up this progress for the six month period I am sure the new behaviors
will have become second nature.
